Jets sign first-round pick Coples NFL Football 05/17/2012
Florham Park, NJ (Worldwide Gamble) - The New York Jets signed first-round draft pick Quinton Coples to a four-year contract on Thursday. Coples, a defensive end out of North Carolina, was selected by the Jets with the 16th overall pick in last month's draft. A First Team All-ACC selection in both 2010 and 2011, Coples notched 17 1/2 sacks during his last two seasons at North Carolina.
Weeden hopes to solve Browns' age-old QB problem NFL Football 05/08/2012
er on their draft board, the Browns picked Weeden at 22. I wasn't a fan of the move on the first night of the draft because I thought the Browns could have taken a wide receiver at No. 22, such as Georgia Tech speedster Stephen Hill (who went to the New York Jets at No. 44), and still come back at No. 37 to pick Weeden. It became obvious on Day 2 of the draft, though, that Cleveland didn't really like many of the consensus top-rated wide receivers. A.J. Jenkins (San Francisco 49ers) and Brian Quick (St. Loui
Jaguars release Coleman NFL Football 05/03/2012
Jacksonville, FL (Worldwide Gamble) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have released cornerback Drew Coleman. After five seasons with the New York Jets, Coleman signed with Jacksonville as a free agent last July and played all 16 games, starting four, in 2011. He compiled 46 tackles with two interceptions and a pair of sacks. Coleman, a sixth-round pick by the Jets in 2006 out of TCU, has 165 career tackles and four interceptions in his six-year career.

Worldwide Gamble) - Undrafted free agents started to come to terms with NFL teams shortly after the conclusion of the three-day draft Saturday evening. Furman cornerback Ryan Steed, one of the more surprising undrafted players from the FCS, joined the New York Jets. JBScouting.com reported Steed was not taken in the draft because of past medical concerns. Two of Steed's Furman teammates also signed free agent contracts with teams. s, QB, Michigan State -- Michael Vick hasn't made it through an entire season healthy since his pre-incarcerated days in Atlanta. Cousins is smart, experienced in a pro-style offense and a superior fallback plan than Mike Kafka or Trent Edwards. 47) New York Jets: Andre Branch, OLB, Clemson -- Branch is a bit of a one-year wonder with boom-or-bust tendencies, but offers a lot of ability as a pass rusher and Jets really need some help in that area. 48) New England Patriots (from Oakland): Trumaine Johnson, CB
